Guess Food? is a proposal for a game-restaurant that can
be implemented as a pop-up. The idea started from the fact
that during our childhood years, socializing was an easier
process. The goal was to create a space, which uses food
and design as tools that can release your inner child. The
concept aims to achieve communication between people who
cook and people who dine in an indirect and playful way.
The proposal includes the creation of a restaurant where
users have the opportunity to play a game based on the
process of cooking and eating. They fill up a form with
their possible food preferences. The chefs prepare different
kinds of meals. The purpose of the game is to make
the players guess what they’re going to eat by giving them
clues through the process of cooking. The translation of the
concept/game to design was mainly the creation of the basic
element, the ‘interactive communication wall’. A ‘wall’ with
small frosted glass windows supported by a steel structure,
that separates the dining area from the cooking area.

The chefs can change the clients’ visibility towards the kitchen
by opening and closing the small windows while they prepare
the meals. They can activate different senses by using
windows as a filter. The game aims to promote socializing
not only between the players but also with the chefs and
facilitate the parallel process of cooking and dining.
